Sumida River Cruise, Kiyosu Bashi Bridge 清洲橋

This is “Kiyosu Bashi”. Completed in 1928 as a part of the Great Kanto Earthquake Reconstruction Project, this bridge is modeled on the Cologne suspension bridge on the Rhine in Germany, which was said that the most beautiful bridge in the world at that time.

Kiyosu bashi Bridge, which is beautiful and feminine designed as if paired with the downstream Eitai bashi Bridge, was designated as an important cultural property of Japan in 2007 together with Eitai bashi Bridge.

「清洲橋（きよすばし）」です。関東大震災復興事業の一環として、1928年、昭和3年に完成したこの橋は、当時世界で最も美しいとされていたドイツ・ライン川のケルンの吊り橋をモデルにしています。

下流の永代橋と対をなすように美しく女性的なデザインの清洲橋は、永代橋とともに2007年、平成19年に国の重要文化財に指定されています。
