This is “Umaya bash”. Literary meaning is “Horse stable bridge”.
Completed in 1874 and named after the shogunate horse stable was near here in the Edo period (1603-1868). In the past, there was a ferry called “Horse stable ferry passage”. With the aging of the bridge, in 1893 it was changed to location about 100 meters upstream from its original position, and the current bridge was completed in 1929.
「厩橋（うまやばし）」です。1874年、明治7年に完成し、江戸時代、幕府の馬小屋がこの辺りにあったことにちなんで、名付けられましたが、以前はここに「御厩の渡（おんまいのわたし）」と呼ばれる渡し船が通っていました。橋の老朽化に伴い、1893年、明治26年に以前の位置から100メートルほど上流に場所を変え、現在の橋は1929年、昭和4年に完成しました。
